Rabat, Apr. 23 - Morocco and Microsoft Corporation signed, here Tuesday, a partnership agreement to implement a series of projects aiming to modernize education, economy and administration.
As for education, the agreement provides for creating Microsoft Academies in Moroccan universities and training centers, and providing teaching aids and training in information and communication technologies (ICT).
Economically, the agreement provides for creating the "Microsoft Innovation Center" to support and accompany the software industry in Morocco and supporting Small and Medium enterprises to reinforce their competitiveness.
The third aspect touches on modernizing the administration through Microsoft's commitment to support the Moroccan State in its strategy to modernize the public administration by sharing good practices in the public sector, notably the use of online administration systems.
In a statement to the press following the signing ceremony, Microsoft Corporation CEO, Steve Ballmer, commended Morocco’s potential based in the richness of its human capital and exceptional geographical location, which allows the North African country to establish itself on the new world map, based on the lever of new technologies of information.
The CEO of the world software tycoon voiced the readiness of its company to reinforce its investment in Morocco and its partnership relations with the public and private institutions.
For his part, Industry, Commerce and New Technologies minister, Ahmed Réda Chami, highlighted the role Microsoft can play to contribute in accelerating the introduction of ITC in the Moroccan society, ensuring reinforced access to these new technologies for the largest number of people and companies, and the setting up of a user-oriented modern public service.
